Osteoporosis A Test and
Suggested Solutions Board Certified in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy and Heard on "Healthy, Wealthy and Wise" Radio Osteoporosis, meaning porous bones in Latin, is a bone disease syndrome in which the mineral density and architecture of the bone is compromised. The results are thin weak bones highly susceptible to fracture. Osteoblast cells naturally create bone while Osteoclast cells naturally dispose of bone in the body. When the Osteoblast replacement of bone slows, but Osteoclast cells continue to dispose of bone in the body, Osteoporosis occurs. Osteoporosis causes pain in the joints and bones, together with fractures of the spine, forearm, hip and leg. While Osteoporosis can occur to any nationality or gender, 80% of cases occur in women, particularly Caucasian and Oriental. An estimated 25 million Caucasian women in the U.S. are affected. Media and Pharmaceutical efforts have created mass hysteria over this potentially dangerous condition to create a market for drugs approved for the treatment and prevention of Osteoporosis. Who truly needs to be taking Fosamax, Didronel, Miacalcin or Calcitonin, Nolvadex, Evista or any of the other estrogen products available today? Osteoperosis does not attack suddenly with no warning. The condition develops over a lifetime, influenced by risk factors that are key to understanding what medication is preferable. Count how many Yes answers you have for these Osteoporosis Risk Factors that relate to you:

To nutritionally and naturally keep your bones strong and healthy, the following are suggested to avoid being susceptible to Osteoporosis (always check with your personal healthcare professional with any questions).
Dr. Richard Becker, D.O., recommends taking phytoestrogen supplements. Soy estrogen does not over stimulate estrogen receptors and minimizes estrogen usage risks. If hot flashes develop or any menopausal symptoms using the soy estrogen, consider adding wild Mexican yam progesterone cream. Julian Whitaker, M.D., in the Health and
Healing Newsletter of February 2000 Recommends NSC Immunition
Products with dSM Glucan to Boost the Immune System "A plethora of immune-boosting products have appeared in recent years, and I have received lots of e-mails and letters from subscribers asking for help in sorting them out. I understand your confusion and I too am dismayed by the excessive claims made by purveyors of some of these products; however, some of them are backed by solid research and merit a trial. Beta glucan, derived from purified baker's yeast, activates macrophages, which destroy infectious invaders and put the entire immune system on call. Our preferred brand is NSC's Immunition. TOGETHERNESS AND EXCESS SUGAR
DURING THE HOLIDAYS LEAD TO INCREASED ILLNESS Have you consumed pounds of chocolate, cakes, pies, cookies and had excess alcohol during the Holiday Season? If so, you have seriously suppressed your immune system and probably have a winter cold or flu! Why? When you ingest excess sugar, you suppress your immune system after about 2 hours for up to 50% for a five hour period. If you consume large amounts of sugar and/or alcohol at parties, family holiday gatherings, office events and the hundreds of other social situations that bring groups together from Thanksgiving through New Years Day, you have exposed yourself to the viruses of colds and flu that are spread by airborne and skin transmission. Did you shake hands and hug that friend, associate or family member while breathing into each other's faces when wishing holiday good will? Did you wash your hands often while drinking large amounts of water? Almost certainly not. The result? Colds and flu. What to do now? Take NSC-24 and NSC-100 Immunition product with dSM Glucan to nutritionally build up and peak your immune system before going into such situations. Eat the carrots and cauliflower with the dips instead of cookies and cake. If alcohol must be consumed, do so in moderation. The good news is the Holiday season is soon over and you can make a New Year's resolution to reduce sugar and alcohol intake for the new Millennium and make the NSC-24 Immunition products a part of your daily vitamin and supplement program. The website medec.com also provides additional information. Selected quotes from the volume related to Beta Glucan are: Yeast beta-glucan has been found to lower total cholesterol levels as well as to increase levels of HDL-cholesterol." Yeast beta-glucan has been demonstrated to have non-specific immune-enhancing effects in vitro and some animal and human studies. In some of these experiments, yeast beta-glucan has exhibited antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral effects. Yeast beta-glucan has been shown to be radioprotective in some circumstances when administered either pre- or post-radiation. The ability of yeast beta-glucan to activate the macrophagic activity of the Langerhans cells of the skin may account for some of the reported significant wound healing properties of this substance. Yeast beta-glucan has also been reported to improve skin dryness and elasticity. Trade names listed in the PDR for Nutritional Supplements are Immunition Beta Glucan Extra Strength, NSC-100 Immune Enhancer and NSC-24 Immune Enhancer from Nutritional Supply Corporation and one additional product from another source.
