GREEN PAPAYA THE SOURCE FOR DIGESTIVE ENZYMES
Green Papaya Powder, "A Natural Digestive Aid" Carpaine, an alkaloid compound also found in Green Papaya has been reported to have certain antibacterial properties that can inactivate many types of bacteria and parasites. Analysis of dehydrated Green Papaya Powder shows it contains less than 10% moisture, 8% protein (the enzymes described are a form of protein), 70% carbohydrates (pectin and fruit sugar), and 5% crude fiber. Each Green Papaya capsule also contains potassium, magnesium, and vitamin A. Green Papaya Powder capsules are an excellent source of two important digestive enzymes, complex carbohydrates, and select vitamins and minerals can be integral to regulating and improving the digestive system. NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION
Green Papaya, "Nature's Miracle Enzyme Plant" THE SOURCE FOR DIGESTIVE ENZYMES: Green Papaya is one of nature's most abundant sources of plant enzymes and other important phytonutrients. Papain, the digestive enzyme commonly found in Health Food Stores, is actually derived from green rather than ripe papayas. While still on the vine, green papaya's enzyme concentrations increase reaching a maximum when the fruit is full-grown. When left on the vine, key enzymes are used to ripen the fruit giving the yellow or orange tropical delicacy we all know. At the climacteric stage before ripening, the green fruit is carefully harvested to yield an optimal amount of enzymes. Water is removed and the green fruit is ground into a pale-green, medium-fine powder. WHY ARE ENZYMES IMPORTANT? Enzymes are actually the catalytic 'sparks of life' in living beings. They not only digest, transport, and transform nutrients but also literally conduct energy to the cells, tissues, and systems of living organisms. Even taking a simple breath requires enzymatic activity. Many vitamins and minerals are really co-enzymes that assist other enzymes to carry out their functions of life. Such supplements also need enzymes to be metabolized! Now for the key concepts: Ill health and weakness are often indicated by and a result of low levels of enzymes. According to research conducted in the past thirty years, oral ingestion of enzymes can be used to improve overall health and to alleviate many ailments! Enzymes taken orally are not limited to digestive functions; they can be also used metabolically. Simply stated, proper, balanced, abundant enzyme levels in both digestive system and the metabolic system equate to health and the prevention of illness(1). Have you had your raw, local, organically-grown fruits and vegetables today? A HOLISTIC POWERHOUSE OF ENZYMES: Green papaya's most salient feature is its powerhouse of enzymes. In addition to papain, green papaya contains chymopapain, an even stronger proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzyme. For many years isolated papain has been used as a natural digestive aid. As many herbalists already know, ingesting whole herbs like green papaya often provides superior results to isolated single ingredients. Important phytonutrients including arginine, amino acids, calcium, potassium, vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, beta carotene (pro-vitamin A), complex carbohydrates, pectin, fibrin, fiber, carpain and other enzymes are also found in Carica papaya. A nutrient-rich, direct source of enzymes, green papaya is here! WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF GREEN PAPAYA? The powerful one-two punch of chymopapain and papain together with the full range of phytonutrients in green papaya deliver a concentrated, effective, natural digestive combination, covering a pH range of 1.6 - l2. (very acidic to very alkaline). Many digestive supplements work in only certain pH ranges and are inactivated during some phase of digestion. Green Papaya supplies a powerhouse of enzyme assistance throughout the digestive system. Some phytonutrients in green papaya help to restore proper intestinal flora and have vermifugal, amoebicidal, and antibacterial properties. So, using green papaya may increase nutrient absorption and help to create a healthier intestinal tract. No wonder people use green papaya for bowel regulation. For those with too little stomach acid, green papaya may take the burden off digestive organs. Green papaya has also been used for over acidity or borderline ulcers as less stomach acid is required for digestion when abundant enzymes are ingested. As an herb, green papaya is a wonderful balancer for the entire digestive system. Chymopapain and papain also exhibit mucolytic (mucous digesting) properties. Studies have even shown that green papaya's enzymes selectively digest hardened, injured, or excessive tissues with little or no invasiveness to healthy tissue and have been used therapeutically for that purpose.(2) ENZYME RESTORATION: There's strong evidence that raising one's digestive enzyme levels can help to balance the immune system. Most people consume far too many enzyme-deficient foods (cooked, stored, processed, and preserved) and far too few enzyme-rich foods (fresh, raw). Their digestive and metabolic enzymes become depleted and the immune system is overworked. Taking plant-based enzyme supplements like Green Papaya with healthful meals can alleviate strain on internal organs, supply additional nutrients, and help to restore balance to the body's enzyme levels. When taken in between meals, enzyme supplementation can result in even faster metabolic enzyme restoration, antiviral activity (proteolytic enzymes digest cell walls of virus and other infectious agents), and free radical scavenging. (3) WHO CAN USE GREEN PAPAYA? Since proper enzyme levels are an excellent indicator of general health, and because our bodies make enzymes from the nutrients supplied by diet, any person who desires to feel better or needs more nutrient absorption utilization may supplement their diet with green papaya. Everyone can benefit from improved enzyme efficiency. HOW IS GREEN PAPAYA USED? Green Papaya powder has a mildly bitter taste with a hint of sweetness. One or two Green Papaya capsules can be taken with meals and are particularly effective with protein foods. They can be taken in between meals to maximize green papaya's enzyme action outside of the digestive system. When first beginning to use green papaya, be sure to drink plenty of purified water. Start slowly with one to two capsules daily with a meal. The quantity can then be gradually increased as desired; or use as directed by your Health Care Practitioner. If discomfort or adverse (cleansing) reactions appear, decrease the quantity used, slow down, or discontinue use.
